1. The day when all the people hear about the Gospel
1) The news on the birth of Jesus that the angel preached to the shepherds (Luke 2: 8-9) “Shepherds living out in the fields kept watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.”
2) Good news of great joy for all the people (Luke 2:10) ” Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.”
3) The day the True King was born (Matthew 2: 2) “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.”
4) Shepherds who shared the Gospel (Luke 2: 17-18) “When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.”
2. The day Christ came for you
1) Christ was born for you. (Luke 2:11) “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”
2) True targets of Christmas (Luke 2:12) “This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
3) The Name of Christ – Jesus (Luke 2:21) “On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise him, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he had been conceived.”
3. The day that glorifies God
1) The heavenly hosts and angels – glory to God (Luke 2:13)
(Luke 2:14) “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”
2) Shepherds – worship the baby (Jesus)
(Luke 2: 16-17) “When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child,”
(Luke 2:20) “The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. ”
