11/22/2017 (Wednesday Worship) – Lecture on the Gospel of the Matthews

 

Blessed are the poor in spirit.

(Matthew 5: 1-3)

And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:“Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

 

  1. He went up on a mountain – the place of grace of God (v. 1)

1) Abraham – Moriah (Genesis 22: 1-20)

2) Moses – Mount Horeb (Exodus 3: 1-20)

3) Elijah – Mount Horeb (1 Kings 19: 8)

4) Jesus – Sermon on the Mount (Mt 5: 1)

5) Disciples – Mount of Olives (Acts 1:12)

 

  1. The crowd and the disciples (v. 1)

(Matthew 5: 1) And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him.

1) The crowd and the disciple are different.

– The brothers of Joseph and Joseph

– Early Church 11 Disciples and Pharisees

 

2) Faith of a Crowd

(John 6: 2) A crowd –  who saw His signs which He performed on those who were diseased.

(John 6:26) because you ate of the loaves and were filled.

(John 6:15) Those who were about to come and take Jesus by force to make Him king- He departed again to the mountain by Himself alone.

 

3) Who is a true disciple?

(John 6:68) “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

(John 6:69)  Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God”

(Matthew 16:16) “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God”

(John 8:31) “If you abide in My Word, you are My disciples”

(Matthew 4:19) Jesus said, “Follow me”

(Matthew 4:20) They immediately left their net and followed Jesus.

(Matthew 8:22) Jesus said to him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead”

 

  1. Those who are poor in spirit (v. 3)

1) Bless are the poor in Spirit

-> Knowing spiritual facts, spiritually hungry

 

2) Those who know that they are truly sinners.

(Luke 5: 8) Peter –  I am a sinful man, O Lord!”

(Romans 3:23) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

(Gen 3: 5) The temptation of the serpent (Satan) – “You shall become like God”

(John 8:44) ” You are of your father the devil,”

(Romans 7:24) O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?

 

  1. Heaven is theirs (v.3)

1) Children of God who are saved (Ephesians 2: 1-5)

2) The guarantee of the kingdom of heaven (Ephesians 2: 6)

3) Citizenship in Heaven (Philippians 3:20)

4) Witnesses of the gospel of the kingdom (Matthew 24:14)

심령이 가난한 자는 복이 있다

(마5:1-3)

 

  1. 산에 올라가-하나님의 은혜 장소(1절)

1) 아브라함-모리아산(창22:1-20)

2) 모세-호렙산(출3:1-20)

3) 엘리야-호렙산(왕상19:8)

4) 예수님-팔복산(마5:1)

5) 제자들-감람산(행1:12)

 

  1. 무리와 제자(1절)

(마5:1) 예수께서 무리를 보시고 산에 올라가, 앉으시니 제자들이 나아온지라

 

1)무리와 제자는 다르다

– 요셉과 요셉의 형들

– 초대교회 11제자와 바리새인들

 

2)무리 신앙

(요6:2) 큰무리-병자들에게 항하시는 표적을 본 자

(요6:26) 너희가 나를 찾는 것은 떡을 먹고 배부른 까닭이로다

(요6:15) 예수를 억지로 임금 삼으려는 자-예수께서 혼자 산으로 떠나 가시니라

 

3)누가 참제자인가?

(요6:68) “주여 영생의 말씀이 주께 있사오니 우리가 누구이게로 가오리까?”

(요6:69) “우리가 주는 하나님의 거룩하신 자이신 줄 믿고 알았사옵나이다”

(마16:16) “주는 그리스도시요, 하나님의 아들”

(요8:31) “너희가 내 말에 거하면, 참 제자가 되고”

(마4:19) 예수께서 말씀하시되 “나를 따라오라”

(마4:20) 그들이 곧 그물을 버려 두고 예수를 따르니라

(마8:22) 죽은 자들이 그들의 죽은 자들을 장사하게 하고 너는 나를 따르라

 

  1. 심령이 가난한 자(3절)

1)심령이 가난한 자(Bless are the poor in Spirit)

->영적 사실을 알고, 영적으로 갈급한 자

2)진정으로 죄인인 줄 아는 자

(눅5:8) 베드로 -“나는 죄인이로소이다”

(롬3:23) 모든 사람이 죄를 범하였으매 하나님의 영광에 이르지 못하더니

(창3:5) 뱀(사단)의 유혹-“네가 하나님 처럼 되리라”

(요8:44) “너희는 너희 아비 마귀에게서 났으니”

(롬7:24) 오호라 나는 곤고한 사람이로다. 이 사망의 몸에서 누가 나를 건져내라

 

  1. 천국이 그들의 것임이요(3절)

1)구원 받은 하나님의 자녀(엡2:1-5)

2)천국의 보장(엡2:6)

3)천국 시민권(빌3:20)

4)천국 복음의 증인(마24:14)
